As part of Bike Month 2008, The Land Conservancy hosted the first ever Restoration Ride to guide bicyclists along a rolling tour highlighting some of our exciting work in the community.
The ride showcased restoration sites and conservation projects along the lower San Luis Creek corridor from the Octagon Barn to Avila Beach. Brian Stark, Executive Director of the Land Conservancy, led a group of twelve riders on a 13 mile route starting at the Bob Jones Trailhead. Six different sites were visited including the Octagon Barn, plant restoration and streamside planting locations and a fish passage on the creek.
Try the Restoration Ride for yourself! It is 13 miles roundtrip along a easy-to-moderate route, however there are multiple intersections and busy roads involved.
