Location: Exploration Station Hosted by: Central Coast Salmon Enhancement
Central Coast Salmon Enhancement had an enthusiastic group of about 50 give of their time and effort for San Luis Obispo County Creek Day 2008. In a mere four hours, they managed to completely fill one four-yard dumpster with trash. The four-yard recycling dumpster got so full, someone had to climb inside and smash down the contents just so we could get the rest of it inside! There were several partially used quarts of motor oil, spray paint cans, engine parts and even a tire from around the 1940s. In a show of their commitment, these volunteers filled the trunks of their cars and backs of their SUVs with someone else's garbage. Efforts are still being made to secure a truck in order to transport large items like mattresses and hazardous waste like two 55-gallon drums of used motor oil. We had several returning volunteers from past Creek Days and many more who just heard about it and wanted to help their community. Arroyo Grande High School teacher Brady Moore brought a large contingency of students, and they all did a fantastic job. We offer a giant "THANK YOU" to everyone who put forth the effort to make our community shine. A job well done by one and all!
